Case study
Digital PFM for Local Government Institutions
Technical leadership to redesign five public financial management services on a DPI-aligned architecture, piloted in nine LGIs.
Context
Local Government Institutions (LGIs) are where many citizens interact with the state most directly. Their public financial management (PFM) processes underpin local service delivery, accountability and transparency. Digitising these services piecemeal risks creating more disconnected systems. Building them on Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) principles makes them reusable, interoperable and ready to scale.
My Role
As Technology Analyst at UNDP Bangladesh, I was the Technical Lead for Digital Public Financial Management for LGIs.
What was built
- Five PFM services redesigned on a DPI-aligned architecture, treating them as building blocks within a wider ecosystem rather than standalone applications
- A pilot in nine LGIs to test the redesigned services in real local-government settings
During the same period I also contributed to the IDx Stack (Bangla Stack) and national DPI guidelines, work that shares the same goal: reusable, interoperable digital foundations for government.
Outcome
The redesigned services were piloted in nine Local Government Institutions, showing how DPI principles can be applied to local public financial management.
